Who I am, what I do.

My name is Caroline New and I am an artist working from my home in South Birmingham. I grew up in Cornwall surrounded by animals and have always loved to capture their beauty in my art.

I am available for commissions of any animal that you would like to have immortalised in lovely, soft chalk pastels. Please take a look through at my gallery which is being added to all the time and then contact me with your requirements.

How I work

I carry out the portrait from your photos so the better the photo the better the picture! I can do a full copy of a particular pose that you have in a photo or use a combination of pictures to produce your ideal pose. Photos can be sent by post or digitally. I will return all photos with the final picture.

I work in coloured chalk pastel on ingress board – this gives a soft, detailed look to the picture.

How to order

To place an order please decide which size of picture you would like. Then contact me by phone or email to discuss your requirements – I may use this initial discussion to gain some important details on the character of your animal – it is important for me to have this information to help in creating a perfect image.

Once we have decided on the size and cost I will ask for a £50 non-refundable deposit. Once this payment is cleared I will start the picture. Please allow 3 – 4 weeks for completion. Once that picture is complete I will send through photos of the finished image – when you have okayed this I will ask for the balance of payment before sending the picture by registered post. Posting costs will be £6 (for Royal Mail signed for next day delivery), to be added onto the final balance. I accept payment by cheque or through Paypal.

Note: for more than two subjects please call me to discuss the size and price of the picture.

These prices will include a background colour of your choice. For more detailed backgrounds perhaps reflecting that in your photo please contact me as this will require additional pricing.
